I’m passionate about protecting wildlife and natural habitats, and this year I've resolved to take more action for nature. As part of this, I've pledged to donate £15 from every Whimsy by the Peaks booking in 2026 to charities that help local wildlife. This will be alongside my membership of the Derbyshire Wildlife Trust, the National Trust and English Heritage

The four charities I’ve chosen all operate in a 50 mile radius of the cottage. They are Charlie’s Place, Linjoy Wildlife Sanctuary & Rescue, Brinsley Animal Rescue and the British Wildlife Rescue Centre. I’ll donate the £15 per booking, per quarter, to each one in turn.

Additionally, I’ll also be making the garden at the cottage more wildlife-friendly. This will include delaying deadheading and tidying; leaving some areas of grass long to provide shelter for insects and food for hedgehogs and birds; patches of wild flowers and nettles left to grow as food for caterpillars and bees; and the hedge left untrimmed so as not to disturb birds during the nesting season. If you're interested, you can follow the garden’s transformation on my Whimsy by the Peaks Facebook page.
